Job Description
Circa Theatre is looking for an independent contractor with a background in sales and marketing to increase awareness of Circa Theatre among the diverse existing audience and new and emerging audiences. The overall goal of the role is to increase ticket sales at Wellington’s leading professional theatre.
The Sales and Marketing Manager reports to the Circa Council and General Manager and is accountable for the effective creation and implementation of Circa’s marketing and sales strategies. The applicant must have experience in sales and marketing, customer service, social media campaigns and management, publicity, basic web skills and copywriting/editing. Experience in the arts would also be desirable.
KEY ELEMENTS OF THE ROLE:
Managing Circa’s marketing initiatives and devising new strategies to grow Circa’s ticket sales.
Working with Single Venture Partnership publicists and Circa Box Office to promote Circa productions and increase ticket sales.
Maintaining and increasing Circa’s online presence.
Working alongside Circa Council, box office, administration, creative teams, bar and café staff and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of marketing strategies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Curation, organisation and distribution of the annual programme brochure.
Managing Circa’s general advertising.
Writing copy for collateral materials, press releases, web pages, social media, newsletters and blog.
Operational implementation of marketing strategies to increase audience numbers.
Managing Circa’s online presence and personality in liaison with Single Venture Partnerships, Box Office, administration and Circa Council
Engaging with the corporate sector to increase group bookings.
Distributing audience surveys and collating responses.
Planning and undertaking research initiatives to evaluate audience and marketing strategies.
Implementing Circa’s Accessibility Plan, including planning Audio Described and New Zealand Sign Language interpreted performances in collaboration with those communities.
Maintaining and enhancing relationships with media sponsors, cross-promotional partners, community leaders.
Planning marketing events and workshops in collaboration with administration, Circa Council, TACT board, box office and Encore Restaurant.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/QUALITIES:
* Extensive experience in marketing and sales
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with the Circa Council, administration, general public, audience, stakeholders, arts practitioners and sponsors.
* Excellent networking and collaboration skills.
* Excellent written skills.
* Experience in copy-editing and proof-reading.
* Self-starter.
* Experience and a keen interest in online marketing.
* Experience with Microsoft Office, CMS/Wordpress, social media, Mailchimp,
Get Smart, Sharepoint, Teams and Patronbase an asset, but not essential.
* Excellent time management and a willingness to go above and beyond.
* Ability to manage multiple competing tasks.

Job description
Circa Theatre is one of New Zealand’s leading professional theatres with performances running six days a week throughout the year. We are looking to engage an independent contractor to manage Circa’s in-house box office
The Box Office Manager reports to the Circa Council and the General Manager and is responsible for the management of a small team of part-time contractors who maintain the daily operation of the box office.
On average the Box Office Manager’s hours will be 30-40 hours per week. Circa is looking to offer a two year contact (with a right of renewal).
Required skills and experience
Experience in box office management and systems
Finance including reconciliations and banking
Experience using Patronbase or other ticketing systems
Excellent communication skills & the ability to get on with a wide variety of people
A passion for the Arts
Common sense, a sense of occasion, can-do attitude and energy and enthusiasm
